Established 1984
Alban Developments implements a sustainability policy which incorporates an action plan which is reviewed on a regular basis. An environmental management system based on BS8555 is in the process of being developed and targets future improvements and their effectiveness.
Recycling
Alban Developments has established a recycling policy for all building materials which include plasterboard, timber, hard-core, metal, cement and plastics. Our office IT equipment is also recycled and office furniture and equipment given to local community groups and charity organisations.
Waste is kept to a minimum throughout the construction phase by the use of effective processes and combined with good project management procedures.
A waste management hierarchy will be put in place, as follows:
• eliminate waste at source wherever possible;
• reduce waste on site by employing good management systems; and
• recycle waste on site wherever possible.
Materials Purchase
Materials used on all our projects have been selected for their simplicity and efficiency in construction as well as whole-life considerations such as long term maintenance. Alban Developments actively seeks to appoint suppliers with a good track record in sustainability, locality is also a key factor when purchasing materials to minimise delivery time and travel costs.
Carbon Management
Although by the nature of our business we have a relatively low carbon footprint, our business nevertheless has an impact on the environment. Equally, we recognise that running a business efficiently makes good business sense..
Alban Developments are serious about the environment and rightly so.
